According to German law, if you see a beer label, or can, and it says Original, it means it comes from a specific place of origin. Hofbräu Original Lager, from Munich, must always be produced within its city limits. While the original brewery was located for over 200 years at the world famous Hofbräuhaus, in the city centre, in order to meet the steady increase in demand both locally and internationally, a new state-of-the-art brewery was built on the outskirts, but still within the city limits. Golden yellow in colour, it blossoms with rich, grainy dough, roasted nut and mossy aromas. The soft, supple, dryish, light body finishes with a long toasty bread and earthy hop finish. A superb session beer. The Beverage Testing Institute rated it “Exceptional” scoring it 90 points.
