While Oregon tends to be known for Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, the Willamette Valley is home to fine Burgundian style Chardonnay as well. Joe Dobbes is one of Willamette Valley’s largest vineyards owners in prime locations in the newly designated Van Duzer Corridor AVA. 2019 was a classic, cooler Oregon vintage giving the grapes lots of hang time to concentrate flavours. Fermented and aged in stainless steel only to capture the freshness and aromatics of the grape, this is a classic interpretation of Chardonnay. Asian pear, cantaloupe and lime peel greet us on the nose. Citrus notes of key lime and lemon combine with mineral and floral notes of honeysuckle on the palate. The finish is medium long with beautiful balancing crispness. Pair with your favourite seafood dish or chicken pacatta rounded out with a pear and gorgonzola salad. Wine Enthusiast magazine rated it as BEST BUY and gave it a score of 89 points.
