DEFINITELY NOT A SO-SO SAUVIGNON BLANC
Crisp, cool and complex! These are the “THREE C’s” of this Sauvignon Blanc grown less than 20 kilometers from the cooling ocean currents of the neighboring Pacific. Hailing from the sloped Matetic Winery’s Rosario vineyard within the tiny San Antonio appellation, the cool climate and decomposed granite soils impart a special character to the grapes. They are hand picked and processed in Matetic’s state-of-the-art gravity flow winery. The grapes, and resultant wine, are handled gently resulting in a dry wine with a crisp mouthfeel. It bursts with herbal and citrus aromas plus tropical fruits such as mango and papaya. The finish is long and elegant. Serve with seafood ceviche or shellfish au gratin. Descorchados, South America’s key annual wine guide, rated it at 92 points.
